Özet

Amaç: Patolojik kumar oynama artan bir halk sağlığı problemidir. Bu hastaların etiyoloji, fenomenoloji ve tedavileri hakkında bir çok uzman sınırlı bilgiye sahiptir. Bu çalışmada patolojik kumar oynama ile ilgili literatürü gözden geçirdik.
Yöntem: 1984-2003 yılları arasındaki dönem için PubMed kullanarak bilgisayarla literatür taraması ve yazı için rasgele makale seçimi yaptık.
Bulgular: Patolojik kumar oynama hakkında çeşitli karşılaştırmalı kavramlar vardır: dürtü kontrol bozukluğu, duygudurum bozukluğu, obsesif-kompulsif spektrum bozukluğu veya farmakolojik olmayan bir bağımlılık şeklindedir. Alternatif bir model olarak, patolojik kumar oynama değişik alt tür özelliklerini taşıyan heterojen bir bozukluktur. Hem biyolojik hem de psikolojik etkenler patolojik kumar oynamanın etiyolojisinde rol oynayabilir. Tedavi seçenekleri bazı ilaçları, psikoterapileri ve “Adsız Kumarbazlar” gruplarına katılımı içerir. Ancak bu tedavilerin hiçbirinin geçerliliği hakkında yeterli kanıt yoktur.
Sonuç: Bu bozukluğun daha iyi anlaşılmasını sağlamak ve uygulanabilir tedavilerin niteliğini artırmak için daha ileri düzeyde araştırmaların yapılması gerekmektedir
