Özet

Benzodiazepinler genel tıpta ve özellikle psikiyatride ; anksiyete , insomnia , kas spazmları , epilepsi ve diğer psikofizyolojik semptomları içeren hastalıkların tedavisinde sıklıkla kullanılan ilaçlardır . Dünya Sağlık Örgütü tarafından güvenli ve etkili bir ilaç grubu olarak önerilmiştir . 1960 ‘ lardan sonra ilaç pazarına sunulmaları sonucu birçok durumlarda barbitüratlar ve meprobomat grubu ilaçların yerini almıştır . Bu gözden geçirme yazısında amaç benzodiazepinlerin etki ve etkinlik mekanizmalarıyla kullanım alanlarını özetlemek ve bu konuda varolan önyargıları bilimsel veriler ışığında tartışmaktır.
