Öz
Metilfenidat; çocuk ve yetişkinlerdeki dikkat eksikliği ve hiperaktivite bozukluğunda (DEHB), narkolepside, depresyon ekleme tedavisinde, kanser ağrısında kullanılmaktadır. Yüksek dozlarda, hatta küçük gruplarda görülmekle birlikte terapötik dozlarda, metilfenidatın manik ve psikotik belirtilere neden olabildiği bilinmektedir. Bu olgu sunumunda daha önce herhangi bir psikiyatri poliklinik başvurusu veya psikiyatrik tedavi öyküsü bulunmayan 2 hastada, DEHB tanısı konulması sonrası metilfenidat uygulanması nedeniyle ortaya çıkan psikotik özellikli manik epizod ve katatoninin eşlik ettiği psikotik özellikli depresif epizodun sunulması ve tedavi sürecinin anlatılması amaçlanmıştır.
